The contract is a simplified version of the Trade Up Contract in CS2. Mil-Spec skins upgrade to Restricted, Restricted to Classified, and Classified to Covert. The result is picked at random from items priced close to the total value of the 5 skins you put in, so higher-value inputs can lead to a higher-value result.

Knives and gloves can't be used in a contract. It's the safest way to use up cheap skins you've collected from cases, because the result always comes from the next rarity tier.
