🔪 Knives and gloves: Rare Special Items
The gold tier of cases: knife types, how gloves arrived, why they are so valuable, and KasaSim's Knife Case.
Updated: 1 November 2026
The gold tier
The yellow stripe that appears when a case opens means “Rare Special Item”. Only knives and gloves live in this tier. Each case has its own rare pool: one case may hold certain knife models, another may hold gloves. That's why it matters to pick the right case for the knife you want.
Knife models
Models include the Karambit, Butterfly, M9 Bayonet, Bayonet, Flip, Gut, Huntsman, Falchion, Bowie, Shadow Daggers, Navaja, Stiletto, Talon, Ursus, Classic, Paracord, Survival, Nomad, Skeleton and Kukri. Three things set the price: the model's popularity, the finish (such as Fade, Doppler or Tiger Tooth) and the wear. The Karambit and Butterfly are usually among the most expensive models.
Gloves
Gloves arrived in 2016 with the Glove Case and have appeared in the rare pool of some cases ever since. Types include Sport, Driver, Specialist, Moto, Hand Wraps, Bloodhound, Hydra and Broken Fang gloves. Gloves never come as StatTrak™; their value depends mostly on finish and wear.
Why are they so valuable?
Rare Special Items have a very low drop chance (0.26% in the real game), and a single case can contain dozens of knife-and-finish combinations. Getting one specific knife with a specific finish and wear is therefore extremely rare, and that scarcity pushes prices up.
KasaSim's Knife Case
KasaSim's own Knife Case always gives a knife or gloves on every opening. That's why it's expensive, and its average return is kept close to its price: some openings give a knife worth more than the price, most give one worth a bit less. The case page shows the current profit chance and the most valuable items. Every case page also shows which knives and gloves that case contains.
